| Pieces of old, broken glass
lay unwanted on the
grassy green Earth
Glistening in the bright,
setting sun sending
gold streaks of light
out into the evening air
like fingers reaching out to
touch the things around them.
Rusty keys, locks, and knives
catch that golden light,
turning it into a dim
copper glow. Puzzles of
rings and wire sit small
and sightless, once loved
now tossed junk.
Trunk in hands, the
Collector come around and
takes this treasure, adding
it to his collection of bells,
vases, and more. His
soul smiles upon these forgotten
items of the past.

| The poem doesn't need to be credited because it's nothing like the original. Now if I were using a Shel Silverstein poem, yeah, I'd have to credit that because of the words he's created. | |
